The Digital Shoreditch Play event was held on 31st of May, aimed at people interested in harnessing the power of play, and the ideal place for connecting with the brightest and most respected minds working with game and gamification. The event was held in Hackney House and no expense was spared. The venue was absolutely stunning!
The event kicked off with a rockstar presentation by PlayGen‘s own Kam Star discussing the opportunities presented by the evolution of gaming whilst giving us a short masterclass in gamification. Many other awesome presentations followed, to see a list of the ones you missed if you didn’t go click here.
What surprised me about the event was the amount of non-pure-gaming people there were which I thought or the gaming industry was a great sign, a sign that in the past few years alone the industry has diversified and grown in to many other sectors.
The final part of the day was an awesome after party organised by UKIE in association with PlayGen, an opportunity for attendees to do some expert networking aided by an alcoholic beverage. The drinks were flowing, business cards flying around and banter aplenty.
I’d like to thank Kam Star for personally introducing me to become a member of Shoreditch Digital, something which I’m really excited about getting involved with.
Shout outs and love also go to:
Giannina Rossini who organises Geek Pub meetups in London
Rachel Liu who shares me passion for user interface design
Hadley Beeman funder of Linked Guv
Oscar Clark, a legend in his own right in the gaming circuit (hope to see him speaking at next year’s event!)
Joost Rietveld who delivered an awesome presentation and is a PhD candidate in Strategy & Digital Games
Joost Schuur who PlayMob have nabbed, expect to hear more from him very soon..
Sorry to anyone I’ve missed, either I couldn’t find you on Twitter or alcohol is not an aid to memory!
